Roman Catholic parish register microfilms for Cashel and Emly, Cloyne and Kerry now accessible at National Library of Ireland
Great news for those of you researching ancestors in Cashel and Emly, Cloyne and Kerry.
0n 27 May the National Library of Ireland announced that the general public will now be able to view their microfilm copies of Roman Catholic parish registers from these dioceses in their microfilm room.
The Roman Catholic parish registers were filmed during the 1950s and 1960s and the microfilms run from the earliest surviving registers up to 1880.
Most microfilms of Roman Catholic registers may be viewed free of charge at the National Library of Ireland but in the case of Cashel and Emly, the microfilms have not been accessible for sixteen years which has restricted the research of many genealogists. Irish Family History welcomes the decision to allow the general public to access these records again.
The Association of Professional Genealogists in Ireland and in particular Paul Gorry and Maire Mac Conghail should be thanked for their help in this matter. See the APGI website for more information.
